DWS STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ATTEND
THE BUFFALO DANCE FESTIVAL 2011
 The Buffalo Dance Festival, presented by UB Center for the Arts, returned for its 3rd annual performance and workshops. Workshops were held throughout the day with Master Teachers and Choreographers. Students took class from world class teachers, Joe Cipolla, Bill Evans, Christine Johnson, and Jon Lehrer.

Jon Lehrer is the Founder and Artistic Director of LehrerDance. He has danced with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company, John Passafiume Dancers, Merv Griffin's "Funderful", Atlantic City, NJ, and the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. He was Associate Director of Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and has choreographed seven original works on the company that received rave reviews all around the world. He has choreographed for Thodos Dance Chicago, Instruments of Movement, Momenta Dance Theatre, Louisiana Dance Theatre, Le Jazz Groupe from Monterrey, Mexico, and Kannon Dance of St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2003 Jon had the honor of receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University at Buffalo's Zodiaque Dance Company for his accomplishments as a dancer & choreographer.

Bill Evans is a performer, teacher, choreographer, lecturer, administrator, movement analyst, writer, adjudicator and dance advocate with a uniquely varied and comprehensive background of experiences and accomplishments.

Joseph Cipolla: Joseph is a Buffalo native whose immersion into dance began at American Academy of Ballet under the tutelage of Maris Battaglia. Cipolla's talents have taken him to stages around the world, performing as a principal dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Christina Johnson, former Dance Theatre of Harlem principal dancer and founding member of Complexions Dance Company. Ms. Johnson danced with the Boston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Complexions Contemporary Ballet and performed as a guest artist with companies such as the Royal Ballet of London. She is currently Ballet Mistress and teacher for Complexions and Armitage Gone.
