Avon Walk For Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser
was held on Sunday, October 9th

DWS STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ATTEND
THE BUFFALO DANCE FESTIVAL 2011
The Buffalo Dance Festival, presented by UB Center for the Arts, returned for its 3rd annual performance and workshops. Workshops were held throughout the day with Master Teachers and Choreographers. Students took class from world class teachers, Joe Cipolla, Bill Evans, Christine Johnson, and Jon Lehrer.

Dance Works performs at mount carmel italian feast
DWS dancers performed or Mt. Carmel Feast goers on Saturday, July 16th. It was a hot day, but all the performers really gave the crowd a great show. Even the audience could not help but get up and dance a bit, especially the little ones! Look for us on the Mt Carmel Facebook page

of fun with Cody wheat acro master class
The Acro workshop with Cody Wheat was a great success! Students where able to
learn the fundamentals of acrobatic tricks such as arials, back and front walk-overs,
back tucks and more. It was a pleasure to have Cody visit our studio and we
hope he comes back to visit us soon. See workshop pics

gets ready to zumba this summer !!!!
Over Spring Break Tricia and Jen participated in an offical Zumba Instructor
Training program and are authorized to offer Zumba classes. They are are also
ZIN members and can be found on zumba.com. The Zumba program is the most effective,
innovative, and exhilarating workout designed for everyone, because previous
dance experience is not necessary. Be on the lookout for when the lights go
on and the party gets started in June right here at Dance Works!!

Monday June 20th, 6pm at Hanna Park.

Utica Monday Nite promotes the regional arts economy by making the arts and
humanities available and accessible to all Utica residents and visitors from
the wider region.

WHEAT WILL BE TEACHING ACRO WORKSHOPS IN MAY
Friday, May 6th. 4-5:30 ages 13 and up, 5:30 to 7 ages 13 and under.

dancers win big at dance xplosion competition
This year Dance Works students took top awards at the Dance Xplosion competition
in Liverpool NY. Mini Tap and Senior Jazz were both awarded Excaliber Awards
and a free access to Nationals in Wildwood NJ! Many other dancers took top prizes
as well.

Tricia attended the annual Buffalo Dance Festival. Classes were taught by master

cara szeles performs at carnegie hall
Cara Szeles recently auditioned and was selected to be a member of a chorus
to perorm 2 concerts with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. The concerts
celebrate the season with carols and traditional favorites as well as the beloved
children's tale, How the grinch Stole Christmas.
hailey bassett performs in scrooge
Players of Utica, New York State’s oldest, continuously producing community
theatre, presents the 27th production of the Holiday Musical Extravaganza – SCROOGE
by Leslie Bricusse. Shows are December 10 @ 7:30 pm December 11 @ 2:00 pm

In
informal studio showing of all the work that the students did
in their classes with Rashaan, Nikki, and Alek. The students
performed ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, musical theater, modern
and hip hop!
Summer
Intensive classes with Rashaan James II, Nikki Sell, and Aleksandra
Wojda. Classes went from 9:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday.

caitlyn green wins $1000 scholarship !
Caitlyn
won $1000 scholarship from The Vinnie Coluzza Memorial
Scholarhip Fund. Caitlyn competed for the scholarship performing
her solo:

We are extremely pround of her, all that hard work has
paid off!

Dancers perform at the annual home expo!
Alexis
Keida, Alex LaGatta, Brenna Macrina, and Sydney Scaccia
volunteered their time after a LONG weekend of competing
to dance at the Mohawk Valley Home Expo on Sunday, March
27th. We hear that the girls were a bit hit!
Thank you to Mrs. Keida for this wonderful invitation! We
hope we will be back next year.

3 Students from DWS who auditioned for scholarships at
Tremain were selected as
winners!! Jillian
and Chelsea won a free convention to attend and Kaliegh

Meghan was chosen to be the

the New Hartford High School musical,
Thoroughly Modern Millie, directed
by Alicia Loomis. Additionally, Jennifer Musch is the
dance captain for
the show! Taylore Galin and Cara Cara Szeles are also in the show.

Congratulations chelsea flo, abigail owens and allyson guido
Chelsea Flo (MVB senior company member), Abigail Owens and
Allyson Guido performed in the Mohawk Valley Ballet's production
on the
Nutcracker. We saw the Sunday matinee and thought the show was
outstanding.
Thank you to Yvonne and all her wonderful dancers for coming out to Utica. Everyone
had a great time and learned a lot! Yvonne is such a positive spirit in the
world of dance! We hope she comes back soon!!
Tricia and Juliana participated for the 3rd year in a row at the New Hartford Perry Junior High Career Day.
