Tuition PaymentsIf paying by check, please write the student’s name on the bottom of the check.
A $20 service charge will be applied to your account for any returned checks.
If you have questions regarding your account, please call the studio and someone will return your call. Directors are unable to discuss your bill between classes.
Termination
Anyone wishing to withdrawa from enrollment at DWS must notify the studio
as to why they wish to cease their enrollment, 30 days in advance. This
withdrawal notice must be received prior to the 1st of the month or monthly
fees will be forfeited. Exceptions: health & medical - a doctors note
must accompany your notice.
Payment Period: Tuition is pro-rated and based on a 9 1/2 month dance year (Sept - June). It remains the same each month whether it is a long (5 week month) or short (3 week month), regardless of absences.
Make-up classes
If students miss their scheduled class, they may make up that class by attending
the same or lower level dance class. Students may come to a different subject
class than the one they are registered for. Refunds are not given for missed
classes.
Speaking with Teachers
If a student/parent wishes to speak with an instructor about a personal matter
or to voice concerns, please do not do so before or during class time.
Please ask the instructor when an appropriate time would be or call Dance
Works to set up an appointment.
Personal Items
Please make sure your child’s name is written on all of their personal
items (shoes, dancewear, etc.) This will avoid any confusion when items are
left in class.
Lost & Found
Please check the Lost & Found in the Parent Waiting Area if you lose
an item. Any jewelry found will be kept in the office.
Class Placement
Your child will be placed in a class according to their ability, not necessarily
by age. If class enrollment does not exceed five students, the class will
be cancelled and students will be re-assigned to a different class.
Transferring Students:
If a student is coming from another school, we will
ask you to take a class to determine proper placement.
Private Lessons
Solos, Duets, & Trios are given at the discretion of the faculty based
on the ability of the dancer.
Any student being considered for a private lesson must be currently enrolled
in that subject as well as a weekly Ballet class.
If students are unable to attend their scheduled private lesson the instructor
must be given no less that 24 hours notice of the absence. Make-ups for private
lessons are provided at the discretion of the instructor and are not guaranteed.
Holidays, vacations and snowdays
The studio is typically closed for holidays and during school vacations.
Please call the studio or check the website and WKTV during inclement weather
to find out if we are open.
?The following rules and guidelines have been designed to insure the safest environment for each student and for the instructors to successfully teach classes in the most effective way possible. Please adhere to the following rules.
Please be prompt! Allows the classes to remain on schedule and avoid other
students being distracted by a late arrival.
No gum chewing during class
Those picking up students from classes please be prompt.
The phone at the studio is for business calls only, but may be used in an emergency situation if students need to contact their parent(s) and/or guardian(s).
There is a minimum required enrollment for a class to be held. We reserve
the right to cancel any classes and a refund is guaranteed.
Students should write their name in full on all dance bags and shoes.
Please, turn off all cell phones before coming into class.
All of the below listed dance attires are enforced for the safety of the student, freedom of movement and uniformity of the class.
Acceptable Dance Attire :
Ballet/Pointe
Girls: leotard, tights, tight shorts, ballet slippers
Boys: black dance pants, form fitting tee shirt, black ballet slippers
Hair
Hair for all students must be secured tightly and neatly for every class.
Secure buns, hair clipped with barrett, French braids or head scarfs are
acceptable. Long ponytails can be dangerous and distracting and
CANNOT be worn in ballet class for later levels in ballet.
Jazz/Lyrical
No long or baggy pants. Jazz shoes, foot paws or bare feet
Girls: leotard, tights, dance shorts, tight fitting shirts and hair pulled
back securly
Boys: tight fitting pants and tee shirts
Modern
Girls: leotard, tight fitting tops, dance shorts, hair pulled back securly,
no baggy pants, bare feet
Boys: tight fitting pants and tee shirts
Tap
leotard, tight fitting tops, dance shorts and hair pulled back securly, no
long or baggy pants
